Best Destruction Games for iPhone and Android: Smash Towers, Castles and Cities

By Codixus Games ·

A tall stack of plain wooden crates topples in a sunlit backyard as a dark rubber ball rolls away from its base.

The best destruction games on mobile right now fall into four kinds. Cannon games knock down towers and castles (Castle Wreck, Knock Fever, Royal Smash!), while building demolition games hand you explosives or a catapult (Captain TNT, Fake Island: Demolish!, Demolish!). There is also a city-wrecking sandbox, City Smash. The slower physics puzzles are Castle Crumble on Apple Arcade and Clatter Smash, which is our game. We checked every pick on the App Store and Google Play on October 13, 2026. Each section says what you do and who makes it, and the checklist further down covers the store labels.

This list sticks to phones. The big names on PC and consoles, such as Red Faction: Guerrilla and BeamNG.drive, are not phone games. Teardown is in the same camp, and it sits with the glass-breaking phone game Smash Hit in our guide to games like Angry Birds.

Cannon games that knock down towers and castles

Cannon games are the easiest place to start if you want the best destruction games on iOS or Android. You aim, you fire, and the physics decides what falls.

Castle Wreck

Castle Wreck is published by Voodoo on both the App Store and Google Play. According to Wikipedia's page on Voodoo, the company is a French developer and publisher of mobile games based in Paris, founded in 2013. Most of its games have been free-to-play hyper-casual titles.

Its App Store description keeps the controls simple. You tap to aim horizontally, tap again to aim vertically, and the cannon fires by itself. Then you watch the castle come down. The listing also pitches the game as a bit of stress relief; that is the developer's claim, not ours.

Shots were limited, at least in 2019. A 2019 Castle Wreck guide from LevelWinner describes 6 to 7 missiles per stage, and says watching an ad grants 3 more. It is a 2019 guide, so those numbers may have changed. One of its tips still makes sense: aim low at gatehouses and turrets, because a castle falls when it loses support.

Both store listings were last updated in October 2025 (App Store on October 21, Google Play on October 15). Those are among the oldest updates on this list, but the game is still listed on both stores.

Knock Fever and Royal Smash!

These are the two 2026 releases. Knock Fever comes from Kite Games and reached the App Store on July 10, 2026. Its listing tells you to aim carefully, find the weakest point and fire your cannon to bring everything down. It promises hundreds of handcrafted levels; that is the listing's claim, and we did not count them.

Royal Smash! (listed in full as Royal Smash! - Physics Puzzle) comes from Cypher Games and reached the App Store on June 30, 2026. Its Google Play description says you set the angle and power of a royal cannon to smash fragile jars and heavy stones and set off chain reactions. Both games had a listing update in the week before our check.

One practical warning: both stores are crowded with cannon games that share near-identical names. Check the developer name on the listing before you install. We left one well-known title out of this list because its iPhone and Android listings show different developers.

Games where you destroy buildings

If you remember a game where you cleared whole buildings out of the way, it may be Blast Corps, a 1997 Nintendo 64 game from Rare. You use vehicles to destroy buildings in the path of a runaway nuclear missile carrier. On phones today, these are the demolition games on iPhone and Android where the target is a building rather than a castle.

Captain TNT is another Voodoo game on both stores. Its listing has you use dynamite, bombs, barrels and detonators, placed with some thought, and then watch buildings crumble to the ground. The listing also says levels become more challenging as you go. It is a planning game more than an aiming game: the real work happens before anything goes off.

Fake Island: Demolish! comes from Unico Studio and is on both stores. You place TNT in set slots on buildings, skyscrapers, lighthouses and other structures, including fake versions of famous landmarks. The listing is clear that these are copies of the originals, not the real landmarks. It also calls itself an offline game; that is the listing's description, and we did not test it.

Demolish! is a third Voodoo game, also on both stores. You hook up a catapult, aim different missiles and tap to throw them at the buildings in front of you. One warning before you hand a phone to a child: the US App Store rates Demolish! 17+, while its Google Play page shows Everyone. Check the rating on your own store first.

City Smash: wreck a whole city in a sandbox

City Smash is the pick if you want to destroy whole cities, with giant monsters among your weapons. Its developer, Paradyme Games, describes it as "a physics destruction sandbox that lets the player wipe out a city with a variety of weapons".

The listing backs that up. The weapons run from rockets and C4 to orbital lasers and black holes. You can also send in giant gorillas and fire-breathing kaijus, or tornadoes, earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis. Its listing describes a sandbox where you create your own scenarios and try different weapons, and it mentions no levels to clear.

The name differs by store. It is City Smash: Sandbox Game on the App Store and City Smash: Sandbox Simulator on Google Play. Both come from the same developer, listed as Paradyme Limited on the App Store and Paradyme Games on Google Play, and both were updated in September 2026.

Castle Crumble: the slower puzzle on Apple Arcade

Castle Crumble comes from Orbital Knight, and on phones it is an Apple Arcade game. You play it on iPhone or iPad with a subscription, and there is no Google Play version of Orbital Knight's game. So if you are hunting for destruction games for Android, this is the one pick here you will not find.

According to Common Sense Media's review, you destroy castles with cannonballs, TNT, chains and magic spells. The kingdoms come from Medieval, Ancient, Aztec and other periods, and the goal is to do as much damage as possible in as few moves as possible. The review praises its "authentic physics" but says it "lacks in depth and replayability". That page was last updated on September 29, 2025.

The same review notes that, as an Apple Arcade game, it plays without ads or in-app purchases. Apple lists Apple Arcade at $6.99 a month in the US. If you already pay for it, Castle Crumble costs nothing extra.

Clatter Smash: our game, where gravity changes the shot

Full disclosure: Clatter Smash is our game. You press, aim and release a ball, and every level hides one weak place in a tower or other structure: a wall, an arch, a vault or a bridge. The pieces include crates, stone, glass, steel beams and explosives. Find the piece holding the rest up, and the whole thing folds.

There are 75 levels in Clatter Smash, spread over five worlds. Gravity is what sets those worlds apart: the Moon pulls at 1.62, Mars 3.72, Earth 9.81, Saturn 10.44 and Jupiter 24.79 m/s squared. Each world holds 15 levels.

Each world plays differently. On the Moon a tower can hang on long after it should have gone. Mars has just over a third of Earth's pull, which lets a flat shot travel. Saturn is only a little stronger than Earth, but that little is enough to drop a clean shot short. Jupiter, roughly two and a half times Earth, slams everything down.

Nine materials behave differently. Glass breaks under the lightest load of any of them, ice barely grips, and rubber sends most of the hit straight back. TNT sits like an ordinary crate until something sets it off. Every level hands you a steel ball, and 60 of the 75 add a heavy ball.

Before you install, know the rules. There is no time limit on a level and no account before your first shot. Each level you play uses one heart from a short bar of hearts, won or lost, and the bar refills over time. Clatter Smash is free to play, with ads and optional in-app purchases.

It is a calm puzzle about one weak point, not a sandbox. To flatten a city, pick City Smash instead.

To see it first, open the playable bay on our home page and drag to aim and fire in your browser. The five-world picker on the same page lists every gravity value.

How to read a destruction game listing before you install

Destruction games look alike in screenshots, so the listing text is where you learn what you are getting. These six checks take a minute:

Which of these destruction games should you install?

There is no single winner among the best destruction games for iPhone and Android, because each one wrecks things in its own way. Start from the kind of wrecking you enjoy most:

Store pages get updated all the time, so read the listing and its labels again before you pay for anything.

FAQ

What is the best destruction game on mobile?

It depends on how you like to wreck things. Castle Wreck or Knock Fever suit cannon fire, Captain TNT suits planting charges, and City Smash is the sandbox for wrecking a whole city. Castle Crumble on Apple Arcade is the slower puzzle, and Clatter Smash, our game, turns gravity into the puzzle.

Is there a game where you knock down buildings on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Captain TNT, Fake Island: Demolish!, Demolish! and City Smash are all on both the App Store and Google Play, checked on October 13, 2026. Castle Crumble is the exception: on phones it is iPhone and iPad only, through Apple Arcade.

Are destruction games free to play?

Most of the phone picks here are free, and every free one from another developer showed the Contains ads and In-app purchases labels on its Google Play page. Castle Crumble needs an Apple Arcade subscription instead. Clatter Smash is free to play, with ads and optional in-app purchases.

Is Clatter Smash a cannon game?

No. You aim and release a ball at a tower or another structure, such as a wall, an arch, a vault or a bridge. Each of its five worlds runs real surface gravity, from the Moon at 1.62 to Jupiter at 24.79 m/s squared. There is no time limit on a level.

What was the old game where you destroy buildings?

It may be Blast Corps, a 1997 Nintendo 64 game from Rare in which you clear buildings out of the path of a runaway nuclear missile carrier. On phones, Captain TNT, Fake Island: Demolish! and City Smash are the closest building wreckers we found.
